Hassan is the perfect destination with its natural scenic beauty and treasure trove of temples.
Named after the Hindu goddess Hassanamba, this Karnataka district was ruled by the Hoysala Empire, and their influence can be spotted in the decorations on monuments.
Hassan is home to intricately carved temples, many of which were built between the 10th and 14th century. Visit the Hoysaleshwara Temple at Halebidu to learn the stories of the past carved in stone or the world-famous soapstone Chennakeshava Temple at Belur. Other temples include Lakshmidevi, Sadashiva, Bucheshwara and Someshwara.
Home to precious flora and fauna, Bisle Ghat is a reserved forest set over 40 hectares. The Ghat is fiercely protected by surrounding villagers to prevent theft of its elephants, king cobras and sambar deer, and many types of high value trees including Teak, Rosewood and Tulip.
