Mysuru, is a city with a rich cultural heritage, located at the foot of the Chamundi Hills. You will be taken just a short drive into the Chamundi Hills, where you will be able to get a panoramic view of the city and see the Nandi Bull – a huge statue carved from stone.
Any trip to India should include some souvenir shopping and this evening you will have time to make a start. Famous for its colourful silks, these can be purchased from shops around the city, including the Government Silk Factory. Centuries old Devaraja Market provides another unique shopping experience. This bustling market is a feast for the senses, with vibrant cones of coloured dyes, exotic fruits and fragrant flowers.
An exciting day is on the cards for all for culture lovers with a morning tour of Mysuru. As the former capital of the Kingdom of Mysuru, it is known as the ‘City of Palaces’. The most spectacular of these is Mysuru Palace, with its high domed ceilings, ornate marble pillars and towering stone arches. After visiting the palace, we drive to the Sri Rangapattanam district to see the Tipu Sultan’s lavish Summer Palace and the ruins of the Tipu Sultan’s Fort, both of which boast large, manicured gardens.
In the afternoon you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city with a trip to the famous Rangathittu Bird Sanctuary. Enjoy a rowing boat cruise along the River Cauvery, where you will see hundreds of birds roosting on the rocks, gliding across the water, or fishing for food. Expect to see sleek black cormorants, river terns and black crowned night herons.
The next couple of days is a real treat for nature lovers. After breakfast, you travel to Nagarhole National Park, which is amongst the most popular national parks in India. It’s an area of lush forest threaded by the Kabini River and backwaters, which provides water for hundreds of different animals. Here you can spot wild elephants and sometimes even a tiger.
In the afternoon, explore a forest track in a jeep, looking out for animals hidden in the undergrowth, before taking a motor boat and canoe ride across the reservoir. You will spend the night in a luxury safari lodge, giving you the opportunity to pamper yourself whilst surrounded by nature.

Early morning and late afternoon game drives are recommended, as the animals are most active at these times of day. You will be travelling in an open-vehicle, so make sure you bring something warm to wear and have sunscreen and a hat for when it warms up.
Your expert guide will help you to look out for elephants, tigers, spotted deer, mongoose, peacocks and jungle fowl.
This morning you have a final chance for a game drive with a local wildlife expert, looking out for the many animals that inhabit the forests of the national park.
Then it's a late morning, 4 - 5 hour drive to Ooty, a beautiful hill station and also known as the 'Queen of Nilgrili'.
This morning you will have time to relax and explore this lovely hill station with St Stephen's Church and Ooty Lake before boarding the Nilgiri Hill Train departing from Ooty Railway Station at 1400 hrs.
The mountain railway, or ‘Toy Train’ as it is most commonly known, was built by the British in 1908 and still relies on its fleet of trusty steam locomotives. This beautiful journey on the original narrow gauge tracks is for many a trip highlight with its spellbinding scenery.
Upon arrive at Mettupalayam Railway Station in the early evening you will be met by your driver (and luggage) and taken to your hotel in Coimbatore.

This morning you will gain a fascinating insight into the region’s tea production, from crop-picking to flavour adjustment with a Lockhart tea trail experience.
You will catch stunning views of the green, carpeted tea fields as you follow the tea trail through the Lockhart Tea Estate. There are walks to suit everyone lasting from 30 min to up to 4 hours. During this time you can interact with the ladies picking tea leaves, and if you wish you can also visit the Lockhart tea factory.
Following the trail a hot picnic lunch is provided before returning back to your hotel.
Today you leave the biodiverse mountain region of the Western Ghats and travel towards the picturesque village of Kumarakom, located on the South Eastern shore of Vembanad Lake.
On route there is a stop for a home cooked lunch, at one of the old estate bungalows set in a plantation of over 100 acres,
Kumarakom is an oasis of calm, hidden in the Kerala backwaters, a network of canals, lakes and coconut groves. The calm waters, verdant surroundings and abundant wildlife makes it the perfect spot to unwind. In the evening, enjoy a sunset cruise on Vembanad Lake, where you will see birds gliding across the calm surface of the lake.

This morning is a chance to learn more about life in the backwaters.
The Village Life Experience tour gives you an authentic taste of village life, as well as showcasing community-based tourism products and services. You will be taken through the narrow canals on a country boat operated by the local villagers. The leisurely ride helps you to get a good look at the everyday life on the banks, including people working in the paddy fields, children swimming in the lake, fishermen and women weaving coconut palm fronds.
You can also try your hand at fishing using the traditional bow and arrow method or fishing by casting the net. This morning is at leisure before you board your deluxe houseboat in time for directly from the hotel. The houseboat will be your overnight transport to Alleppey, also known as the Venice of the East due to its network of narrow canals, as well as your accommodation for the night.
