When it comes to wildlife in India, Tadoba National Park in the heart of Maharashtra is the emerging gem you may never have heard of, and we will give you a little peek into animal paradise.

While many people flock to nearby Satpura, Kanha, Pench and Bandhavgarh, Tadoba National Park is less crowded and perfect for an off-the-beaten-track adventure. With tigers galore and a variety of habitats, it’s our favourite choice if you want to get away from the throngs.

What Makes Tadoba So Special?

At over 1,700 square kilometres, Tadoba is Maharashtra’s oldest and largest national park. Dense forests meet open grasslands and tranquil lakes, creating the perfect home for a fantastic variety of animals and birds.

Bengal tigers are obviously the main draw here, but if you don’t get a glimpse of them, then there’s plenty more to see, including leopards, wild dogs playing, Indian bison and a stunning array of birds.

When Should You Visit?

The best time to plan your trip is between October and June. The park closes during the monsoon months (July to September), when heavy rains make access difficult.

  • April to June brings very warm days, but animals often gather near waterholes, making sightings even easier.
  • From October to March, the weather is cool and dry, which makes it a little more bearable temperature-wise.

How to Explore Tadoba

Spend the morning and afternoon on a jeep safari that will take you deep into the forest, offering the chance to spot wildlife going about their day.

Remember, safaris have limited permits to protect the park, so it’s a good idea to book yours well in advance. We can arrange this for you to take away the hassle!

A Place Worth Protecting

Tadoba isn’t just about thrilling wildlife encounters, it’s also an important sanctuary working hard to protect tigers and the entire ecosystem. Strict anti-poaching measures, habitat restoration, and community involvement have helped Tadoba National Park maintain a healthy and growing tiger population.
