Athirapally Falls - North Kerala

Discover the Athirapally Falls and local area

Nestled amongst the lush green scenery of the Western Ghats, Athirapally is a nature-lover’s delight. Foray into the forests to really be at one with nature.

Athirapally is waterfall country, hence the nickname of the ‘Niagra Falls of India’,  The imposing Athirapally Falls at 80 feet tall and 330 feet wide, and its neighbour Charpa Falls make the perfect backdrop for some stunning holiday snaps.

The bamboo, eucalyptus and teak plantations are home to a variety of forest life, including the Asiatic elephant, bison, leopard, lion-tailed macaque, sambar, tiger and a variety of hornbills.

It’s unsurprising that such a naturally beautiful area has featured in a number of South Indian films, particularly as a backdrop for musical numbers.
