The calm, quiet Satpura National Park is a haven for wildlife lovers, with its unique habitat, variety of rare species and wonderful setting amongst the Satpura Range. Also known as Satpura Tiger Reserve, this award-winning park opened in 1981 and is spread over 1,427 square kilometres.
Picture deep gorges, beautiful hilly terrain, rivulets, large herds of mammals, and untouched forest locations, all rich in biodiversity. Take your pick from a jeep safari, walking safari or canoeing to get a chance to see some of the amazing wildlife unspoiled ecosystem at a close distance.
The Park’s residents include:
- Mammals: Bear, Black Buck, Chinkara, Chital, Flying Squirrel, Four-Horned Antelope, Fox, Indian Giant Squirrel, Indian Muntjac, Leopard, Mouse Deer, Nilgai, Porcupine, Sambar and Wild Boar
- Flora: Bamboo, Bel, Mahua, Medicinal Plants, Phyllanthus Emblica, Sal, Teak and Tendu
- Birds: Hornbills and Peacocks
