India Tiger Safari Itinerary

The JW Marriott Aerocity, Delhi

Arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi and transfer to your hotel for a restful overnight stay. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy the hotel’s amenities or a brief orientation stroll in the surrounding area.

Accommodation: JW Marriott Aerocity, a sleek, modern, upscale hotel near the airport.

Tiger, Bandhavgarh National Park, Madhya Pradesh

Fly to Jabalpur and drive through rural landscapes to Bandhavgarh National Park, one of India’s most scenic and biodiverse tiger habitats. Once the private hunting grounds of Maharajas, Bandhavgarh is famed for its high density of tigers, lush Sal forests, and dramatic hilltop fort ruins.

Over the next two days, embark on morning and afternoon private jeep safaris, exploring different zones of the park. Traverse meadows where spotted deer graze, bamboo thickets where leopards lurk, and forest clearings where langurs leap from tree to tree. With expert naturalists, track the alarm calls of langurs or deer that may lead to a thrilling big cat encounter.

Accommodation: Taj Mahua Kothi, a luxury jungle lodge nestled near Bandhavgarh National Park.

Leopard Spotting, Jawai Bandh, Rajasthan

Continue to Kanha National Park, one of India’s largest and most picturesque reserves. The inspiration for Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, Kanha is home to rare swamp deer (barasingha), wild dogs, leopards, and majestic Bengal tigers.
Spend the next two days on morning and afternoon game drives, journeying through Kanha’s diverse habitats, Sal forests, open grasslands, and serene waterholes. Watch gaur herd across the meadows, track pugmarks on dusty trails, and listen for the jungle’s signals, each call a clue in nature’s quiet theatre.

Accommodation: Taj Banjaar Tola, a luxury jungle lodge on the banks of the Banjaar River, in the heart of Kanha National Park.

Drive south to Pench National Park, straddling the border of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The park is a mosaic of teak forests, grasslands, and the meandering Pench River, attracting a wide array of wildlife.

Over the next two days, enjoy private jeep safaris that reveal Pench’s quieter magic, sloth bears snuffling near termite mounds, jackals streaking through the underbrush, or a shy leopard resting in a fig tree’s crook. Birders will delight in hornbills, crested serpent eagles, and paradise flycatchers. Between safaris, unwind in a treehouse, journal your sightings, or join a lodge-led nature walk.

Accommodation: Taj Baghvan, a luxury jungle lodge inspired by a 1950s Indian charm, and a tranquil setting on the edge of Pench National Park.

Satpura National Park, Madhya Pradesh

Drive to Satpura National Park. Tucked away in the lesser-visited heart of Madhya Pradesh, Satpura offers an intimate and varied wildlife experience far from the usual safari trails.

Over two days, explore this rugged landscape of sandstone peaks, deep gorges, and dense forests through a mix of game drives, boat safaris, and guided nature walks—the only park in Central India that allows walking safaris. Spot sloth bears, leopards, giant squirrels, and a rich variety of birdlife while learning about the ecosystem from expert naturalists. Satpura’s low visitor numbers mean more time in nature and fewer vehicles, creating a serene, immersive wilderness experience.

Accommodation: Reni Peni Jungle Lodge, a first-class boutique wilderness retreat in the heart of Satpura.

Lobby, The Leela, Mumbai

Drive to Nagpur and fly to Mumbai. Transfer to your hotel near the airport, a toast to the days of dust, claw marks, and starry jungle skies.

Accommodation: The Leela Mumbai, a deluxe-grade modern hotel near the airport.

In good time, you’ll be transferred to Mumbai International Airport for your onward flight, carrying the unforgettable memories of India Tiger Safari and the wild beauty of India’s heartland.
