Andaman and Nicobar Islands

If you're looking for an adventure and like to go off the beaten track this is India’s remote state, situated over 1000 km off the east coast in the middle of the Bay of Bengal.

The Andaman Islands are connected to the mainland with flights from Chennai, Vishakhapatnam and Kolkata. Beautifully covered by the deep green tropical forest, the archipelago supports a profusion of wildlife, including some extremely rare bird species, but the principal attraction lies offshore, around the pristine reefs that ring most of the islands. Filled with colourful fish and kaleidoscopic corals, the crystal clear waters of the Andaman Sea feature some of the world’s richest and least spoilt marine reserves – perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Port Blair

The gateway for most to the Andaman Islands, Port Blair is the main stopping off point to the wonderfully idyllic Andaman islands.  Whilst there its worth a visit to The Cellular Jail which stands as a stark reminder of the Andaman capital’s bleak colonial past.

Wandoor

The white sandy beach and islets of the Mahatma Gandhi National Marine Park are the archipelago’s most popular day trip destination and a wonderful introduction to the more remote areas.

Havelock & Neil Islands

Cruise by boat to the Andaman’s most popular holiday hangouts, both laid-back, friendly and great for snorkelling or scuba diving. Plunge into the islands’ beautiful coral reefs, which teem with vivid underwater life.

North Andaman

The long haul up the road from Port Blair is worth it for North Andaman’s dazzling tropical beaches, set against a backdrop of thick rainforest.
